Can ifosfamide affect the nervous system?

Ifosfamide (Ifex) can affect the nervous system and cause various neurological problems. Most are reversible. They include:
  • somnolence (daytime sleepiness)
  • confusion
  • dizziness
  • hallucinations
  • depressive psychosis (this involves depression and reduced contact with reality)
  • agitation
  • seizures
  • coma
Ifosfamide treats testicular and other types of cancer. If your doctor prescribes this drug, discuss the possibility of neurological side effects and call him immediately if you develop any of them.
