How does Camptosar interact with other medications or food?

Camptosar (irinotecan hydrochloride) may interact with prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications. These include: carbamazepine; certain anti-viral medicines for HIV or AIDS; clarithromycin; anti-fungal medicines, such as ketoconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole and voriconazolene; fazodone; phenobarbital; phenytoin; rifabutin; rifampicin; rifampin; St. John's Wort; and telithromycin. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take. While taking Camptosar, you may be advised you to stop eating certain foods, such as grapefruit to prevent a possible adverse interaction. Your doctor may also recommend eating specific foods to help prevent diarrhea while taking Camptosar.
