Are there side effects of fludarabine injections?

Many side effects of fludarabine injection are related to a decrease in the number of blood cells made by your bone marrow, so tell your doctor if you have ever had a low number of any type of blood cells or a weakened immune system.

Call your doctor if you experience:

  • shortness of breath
  • fast heartbeat
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • pale skin
  • extreme tiredness
  • unusual bleeding or bruising
  • black, tarry, or bloody stool
  • vomit that is bloody or that looks like coffee grounds
  • fever, chills, cough, or sore throat
  • difficult, painful, or frequent urination
  • signs of infection

This medicine can also damage your nervous system. Call your doctor immediately if you experience seizures, agitation, confusion orloss of consciousness.

Fludarabine injection may also stimulate your body to attack its own blood cells. Tell your doctor if you have ever developed this type of condition in the past.

Call the doctor immediately if you have:

  • dark urine
  • yellow skin
  • tiny red or purple dots on the skin
  • nosebleeds
  • heavy menstrual bleeding
  • blood in the urine
  • if you cough up blood
  • have difficulty breathing due to bleeding in the throat

Tell your doctor right away if you experience:

  • chest pain
  • a fast or irregular heart beat
  • hearing loss
  • pain along the side of the body
  • a rash
  • hives
  • difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • peeling or blistering skin
  • swelling of the arms, hands, feet, or lower legs

Talk to your doctor if you have continuing:

  • loss of appetite
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • mouth sores
  • hair loss
  • muscle or joint pain
  • headache
  • depression
  • sleep problems
  • numbness, burning pain, or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs

You may also experience tiredness, weakness, confusion, agitation, seizures, and vision changes.
