What other drugs interact with triptans?

If you are taking a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, triptans can lead to side effects and should be avoided.

If you are taking metoclopramide, tedizolid, an antipsychotic, or a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, triptans can lead to serious side effects.

You should not take eletriptan until at least 72 hours after stopping itraconazole or ketoconazole. You should avoid posaconazole and voriconazole if possible.

You should not take eletriptan until at least 72 hours after stopping clarithromycin, nefazodone, or ritonavir.

If you are taking conivaptan, fusidic acid, or idelalisib, eletriptan can lead to side effects and should be avoided.

You should not take a triptan until at least 2 weeks after stopping ergot derivatives.

If you are taking ceritinib, eletriptan can lead to side effects and should be avoided.

You should not take rizatriptan, sumatriptan, or zolmitriptan until at least 2 weeks after stopping MAO inhibitors.
