What are the side effects of almotriptan?

Some people may experience side effects while taking almotriptan malate. Many side effects are mild and do not require medical care unless they are severe or persistent. Common side effects include upset stomach; drowsiness; headache; and dry mouth.

Other side effects can be more serious. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience dizziness or faintness; a rash or itching; tightness, pain, pressure, or heaviness in the chest, throat, neck, and/or jaw; slow or difficult speech; bloody diarrhea; rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat; severe stomach pain; difficulty breathing; paleness or blue color of the fingers and toes; weakness or numbness of an arm or leg; or pain, burning, and tingling in the hands or feet.

Common side effects you may experience while taking almotriptan are dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, upset stomach, or vomiting. You should contact your doctor if any of these symptoms persist or become severe. Almotriptan may cause other, less common side effects, such as rash, chest pain, difficulty speaking, light headedness, weakness of an arm or leg, severe stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, wheezing, difficulty breathing, change in skin color of the fingers and toes, changes in vision, or pain in the hands and feet. You should get medical attention immediately if you experience any of those less common side effects, along with any symptoms of an allergic reaction.
