Who should not take Demser?

You should not take Demser if you have a known allergy to metyrosine. Also, make sure your doctor knows if you have heart, kidney, or liver disease. These conditions may require that you take a specific dosage of Demser or be tested to ensure your safety. The effect of Demser on pregnant women and fetal development is unclear. If you are pregnant or nursing, discuss this with your doctor before taking Demser. You may also need to avoid Demser if you are already taking haloperidol or any type of phenothiazine. People taking CNS (central nervous system) depressants, sleep aides, or tranquilizers should also be cautious when taking Demser. Make sure your doctor is aware of all medications you are taking and any allergies that you have.
