Who should not take Cartia XT (diltiazem)?

Cartia XT should not be taken by people who have certain heart conditions, including sick sinus syndrome or an AV block, unless you already have a pacemaker. You should also avoid Cartia XT if you have recently had a heart attack, suffer from low blood pressure, kidney disease, or congestive heart failure. In addition, people who have shown sensitivity or an allergic reaction to Cartia XT or the ingredients in Cartia XT should not take it.
