Who should not take Cardene SR (nicardipine)?

People with advanced or severe aortic stenosis, those who are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the drug's ingredients, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive Cardene SR (nicardipine). Your doctor will especially need to know if you have a history of stroke, lung problems connected with heart attack, severe aortic stenosis, heart valve narrowing, other heart problems such as congestive heart failure, chest pain, low blood pressure, liver problems, pheochromocytoma, withdrawl from beta-blocker medication, or kidney problems; or if you use digoxin, cyclosporine, or cimetidine.
