What should I know before taking candesartan?

It is not known whether candesartan is safe or effective for children and adolescents under age 18.

If you have had angioedema, candesartan can lead to side effects and should be avoided.

If you have impaired kidney function or impaired liver function, candesartan may not be a good option for you.

If you are pregnant or may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, you should not take candesartan.

If you are breastfeeding, candesartan may not be a good option for you. It is not known if this drug can be passed into breast milk.
