What foods and alcohol interact with Diovan HCT?

The blood pressure drug Diovan HCT is not known to interact with foods, but it may interact with certain supplements or condiments, possibly causing health problems. Specifically, if you take potassium supplements or use salt substitutes that contain potassium while you're on Diovan HCT, your blood potassium level may climb dangerously high. You should not use potassium supplements or a potassium-containing salt substitute without talking with your doctor first.

Drinking alcohol while you're on Diovan HCT may raise your risk for certain side effects, such as dizziness and low blood pressure (hypotension). Talk to your doctor about whether it's safe to drink any alcohol while you are taking this drug.
