Enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide is a combination of two generic prescription drugs, enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide, which are used to treat high blood pressure. Enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide are both medicines that treat high blood pressure, but in different ways. Enalapril is a medicine known as an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, which works by stopping a chemical in your body that can shrink blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic, and lowers blood pressure by helping your body get rid of excess fluid.Both of these medicines work together lower blood pressure. High blood pressure can lead to a number of medical problems, including heart problems, stroke, and kidney disease.
