What should I avoid while taking Teveten?

While you're taking the blood pressure medication Teveten (eprosartan), you should avoid driving if the drug makes you sleepy or dizzy. You should also be cautious about drinking alcohol, because that might add to any drowsiness caused by Teveten. Some people have also reported having a lower tolerance for alcohol while taking Teveten. Inform your doctor if this is true for you.

Certain medications may cause side effects when taken with Teveten, so tell your doctor about all prescription and over-the-counter drugs you take, as well as herbal or dietary supplements. Be sure to mention if you take any of the following medications:
  • nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, naproxen or celecoxib
  • diuretics (water pills)
While you're on Teveten, you shouldn't use a salt substitute that contains potassium unless your doctor tells you it's okay. Combining Teveten with a potassium-containing salt substitute can make your blood potassium level climb dangerously high. Your doctor might recommend a low-sodium or low-salt diet. If so, you should carefully follow it.

While you're taking the blood pressure drug Teveten (eprosartan), you should avoid getting pregnant. This medication can cause serious harm or be fatal to a developing fetus. If you discover that you are pregnant while you're on Teveten, call your doctor immediately. You also should avoid breastfeeding, because researchers don't know whether Teveten passes into breast milk.
