What is ambrisentan?

Ambrisentan is used to treat high blood pressure in the lungs, a condition called pulmonary arterial hypertension. As an endothelin receptor antagonist, the tablets work by preventing the blood vessels in the lungs from thickening. Blood is allowed to flow more freely through the lungs, which keeps the pulmonary arterial hypertension under control. Ambrisentan tablets are prescribed under the brand name Letairis.
