What is amlodipine besylate and benazepril used for?

Amlodipine and benazepril (Lotrel) is a pill that combines two drugs used to control high blood pressure (hypertension). Amlodipine is a type of drug called a calcium channel blocker, which relaxes blood vessels to let blood flow more easily. It also controls chest pain by improving blood flow to the heart. Benazepril is a type of drug called an ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor, which relaxes blood vessels by decreasing certain chemicals that cause them to tighten.
