If I am pregnant, is it safe to take Benicar HCT?

It's not safe to take the blood pressure medication Benicar HCT (olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) if you're pregnant. Benicar HCT can kill or seriously harm a developing fetus if you take it during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy.

If you're taking Benicar HCT and discover that you're pregnant, stop taking the drug and call your doctor immediately. He or she will determine the safest way to treat your high blood pressure during pregnancy.
