How should I take irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide?

If you are prescribed the combination pill containing irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide (which comes in both generic form and as a brand-name drug called Avalide) to treat high blood pressure, you will take it once a day with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label, and do not take more or less of the drug, or take it more often, than your doctor tells you to. Ask him or your pharmacist about anything you do not understand.
