How soon after starting Benicar HCT will my symptoms improve?

If you take the blood pressure medication Benicar HCT (olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) your blood pressure may begin to go down within the first week, but it may take up to two weeks for the drug to have its full effect. However, you may not be aware of any change, because high blood pressure frequently has no symptoms.

People have different reactions to Benicar HCT, so your doctor is likely to monitor you closely to determine the right dose for you. You should continue to get your blood pressure checked regularly even after it is under control to confirm the drug is continuing to work properly.
