How can taking Diovan reduce my risk of a heart attack?

Diovan (valsartan) may reduce your risk of a heart attack by lowering your blood pressure if it is high. High blood pressure (or hypertension) can damage your blood vessels and force your heart to work harder to pump blood throughout your body. Over time, high blood pressure can raise your risk for stroke and heart attack. Diovan relaxes and dilates your blood vessels, improving blood flow so your heart doesn't have to work as hard.
