How does Cozaar interact with other medications or food?

Cozaar may interact negatively with over-the-counter or prescribed potassium supplements, some salt substitutes, and other medications and food. Diuretics, or water pills, can interact adversely with Cozaar, as can non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medications. This group of drugs includes COX-2 inhibitors. Speak with your physician if you are taking any of these types of medications. Your doctor may choose to put you on a low-sodium diet. If so, be sure to adhere to it. Do not use salt substitutes with potassium in them without first consulting your doctor. You should not take Cozaar if you have diabetes and take a drug called aliskiren to lower your blood pressure.
