Can I use Benicar if I am breastfeeding?

If you are breastfeeding, you should not take the blood pressure medication Benicar (olmesartan). Animal studies suggest that the drug passes into breast milk. Since Benicar could potentially be harmful to your baby, talk with your doctor about whether you should stop breastfeeding while taking Benicar, or instead stop taking Benicar until your baby is weaned.
