Is Benicar safe for pregnant or breast-feeding women?

Benicar (olmesartan medoxomil) is not safe for pregnant or breast-feeding women. It should not be taken if a woman knows she is pregnant. The fetus could be severely injured and even death may occur when Benicar is taken during the second and third trimesters. Injury to the fetus in the first trimester is not clear. If you are breastfeeding, Benicar should probably not be used. If you are in any stage of pregnancy, be sure to speak with your doctor about Benicar.
