Does aspirin interfere with the effectiveness of Micardis?

There is a moderate drug interaction between aspirin and Micardis; however, it can be managed with monitoring by your doctor. You should take aspirin, especially if your doctor is recommending that you do so. For most patients, the benefits of aspirin will outweigh the concerns of the drug interaction.  Aspirin may decrease your body's sensitivity to Telmisartan, and may increase the risk of kidney problems in patients with prior kidney disease. As a result, Telmisartan treatment/dose, blood pressure and kidney function should be regularly reviewed when these drugs are used together. If you are seeing your doctor for regular follow ups, your doctor will be monitoring these things and making adjustments as needed. Using the low dose of aspirin (81 mg) will help to minimize this interaction as well.
