Are there any risks in taking Avapro?

One risk of taking Avapro (irbesartan) is fetal harm if you are pregnant. Rarely, another risk of taking Avapro is the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, which can cause kidney failure. Let your doctor know if you have heart failure; if Avapro results in lower blood pressure, that may worsen your condition. Also let your doctor know if you suffer from dehydration. If you do, that condition can amplify the blood-pressure lowering effects of Avapro. Also let your doctor know if you suffer from kidney disease, as that condition can increase the effects of Avapro since the medicine may be processed through the body at a slower rate.
