How soon after starting to take nifedipine will my symptoms improve?

When used to treat high blood pressure and angina, nifedipine may take several weeks to improve your symptoms. It is important to realize that high blood pressure may not cause apparent daily symptoms; yet, nifedipine can still be working to control your condition. Blood pressure monitoring will indicate the medication's effects. Your doctor may recommend a low dose of nifedipine first and increase your dose after one or two weeks as needed to control blood pressure. Be sure to remain in contact with your doctor while taking this medication, and do not stop taking nifedipine without your doctor's approval.
