Who should not use pilocarpine?

Do not use pilocarpine if you have serious eye problems, such as glaucoma or inflammation of the eyes. Avoid using pilocarpine if you have uncontrolled asthma. If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before using pilocarpine, which is known to decrease fertility. Children should not use pilocarpine, as it is not known whether it is safe and effective for children.
