What is betaxolol?

Betaxolol (Betoptic Ophthalmic Solution or Betoptic S Ophthalmic Suspension) is the active ingredient in an eye drop used alone or in combination with other drugs to reduce pressure in the eye due to ocular (eye) hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. This medication works by decreasing fluid production in the eye, which in turn reduces eye pressure. Reducing the pressure helps to prevent optic nerve damage and blindness.
