What are the side effects of Isopto Carpine?

When using the eyedrop Isopto Carpine (pilocarpine), the side effects are usually mild and generally limited to ocular effects, such as blurry or clouded vision, tearing, light sensitivity, poor vision in low light, nearsightedness and eyelid spasms. Headaches, dizziness, fatigue and weakness have also been reported.

Alert your doctor immediately if you have any of the following side effects:

  • symptoms of a detached retina (flashes of light or floaters)
  • nausea or vomiting
  • breathing problems
  • erratic heartbeat
  • itchy, burning or irritated eyes
