What should I know about Isopto Carpine before using it?

You should know that Isopto Carpine reduces ocular (eye) pressure and prevents further damage to the eye and optic nerve caused by ocular hypertension, but it will not reverse any damage already present. If left untreated, ocular hypertension can lead to optic nerve damage and permanent (partial or total) vision loss. This is called glaucoma.

Make sure you do not touch dropper tip to any surface, including your eye and finger. If the tip of the dropper gets contaminated, you can get an eye infection. If you wear contacts, remove them before applying Isopto Carpine eye drops. Wait at least 10 to 15 minutes before you reinsert them. This medication can cloud your vision, particularly when it is dark, so use caution when driving or doing other potentially dangerous activities while using Isopto Carpine. You may need to wear sunglasses to shield your eyes from the sun or other bright light.
