How does Travatan Z work to treat glaucoma?

Travatan Z (travoprost) is a prescription eyedrop that works to treat glaucoma by lowering pressure within the eye. It's a synthetic form of a prostaglandin, a hormone-like substance, that stimulates the flow of fluid out of the eye; this is what lowers the pressure. Travatan Z cannot reverse damage that has already been caused by glaucoma.
