Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic) is a medicated solution that is applied to the eyelashes for the purpose of making them thicker, longer, and darker. Latisse treats a condition called hypotrichosis, which basically means insufficient eyelashes. Latisse is the brand name of bimatoprost, which was discovered in a drug used to treat glaucoma when the people who used it grew more eyelashes.

1 AnswerStacy Wiegman, PharmD , Pharmacy, answeredIf you are allergic to any component of Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic), you should not use it. Animal studies showed that the ingredients of Latisse were harmful to fetuses and were passed through breast milk; there is not enough research to declare whether using Latisse when pregnant or nursing is safe in humans. If you have any eye conditions, you should consult with your doctor before trying Latisse.
