What are the side effects of AmBisome?

While receiving AmBisome you may experience flu-like symptoms. These include:

  • chills and fever
  • muscle, stomach and joint pain
  • coughing

You may also have headaches, nausea, insomnia or a rapid heartbeat or you may lose weight. If these side effects persist or get worse, contact your doctor. Also, tell your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects, as they may be signs of a medical emergency:

  • signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives or an itchy rash, swelling around the mouth or face or chest tightness and difficulty breathing
  • bloody urine or stools or decreased urination
  • chest pains
  • convulsions
  • diarrhea or vomiting
  • dizziness
  • unexplained bleeding or bruising
  • fast breathing or heartbeat
  • hearing problems
  • pain or inflammation at the site of injection
  • swelling in your hands or feet
  • weakness
  • yellowing of the eyes or skin
