What is amphotericin B used to treat?

Amphotericin B is used only to treat very serious, life-threatening fungal infections. It is not prescribed for less serious fungal infections because of potential serious side effects. Examples of less serious fungal infections are of the throat or mouth. Also, normally, vaginal fungal infections are considered less serious. Your doctor can make treatment recommendations based on the severity of your infection.
