What are the side effects of terbinafine?

Certain individuals have developed serious liver damage while taking oral terbinafine, but it has not been proven whether this drug was solely responsible for the damage. Seek immediate medical help if you have the following symptoms: stomach pain, nausea, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice or clay colored stools. Other serious side effects include: joint swelling, pain, patchy skin color, a butterfly-shaped skin rash over the cheeks and nose, swollen glands, fever, body aches, chills, flu symptoms, vision changes, loss of taste, weight loss, scaly, itchy and flaky skin rash, sore throat and headaches with severe peeling, blistering and red skin rash. Less serious side effects include: stomach pain, heartburn, diarrhea, headaches, tired feeling, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cold symptoms, mild skin rash or itching, unpleasant taste in the mouth or decreased taste. Symptoms of an allergic reaction that require emergency treatment include: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face. Topical terbinafine can cause side effects, such as dryness, redness, itching, burning, peeling, rash, stinging and tingling.
