What are the side effects of itraconazole capsules?

Itraconazole (Sporanox) capsules, an antifungal drug, may cause the following:

  • fatigue or weakness
  • fever
  • flu symptoms
  • coughing up mucus
  • fast weight gain
  • lack of appetite
  • nausea or vomiting
  • urine that is dark or painful to pass
  • clay-colored or pale stools
  • pain in your upper right abdomen
  • shortness of breath
  • erratic or rapid heart rate
  • swollen legs, ankles or feet
  • numb, tingling or painful feet or hands
  • skin (including skin inside your mouth) that turns red, blisters, loosens or peels
  • yellowed skin or eyes
  • hearing problems

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as breathing problems, itching, rash, hives or swollen throat, lips, face or tongue. Other side effects, such as cold symptoms, a runny nose; minor rash or itching; dizziness; headaches; bloating; minor stomach pain or upset; constipation; diarrhea may not be as serious. Talk to your doctor if these persist or become a problem.
