What are the side effects of econazole nitrate cream?

Econazole cream can cause the following side effects on the skin where it is applied: redness, itching, burning, stinging or other irritation; swelling, bumps or a rash that look like pimples; and tenderness. These side effects usually pass, but if they persist or become serious, call your doctor or pharmacist. You should call your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you develop the following, very rare side effects: blisters; open sores; or an allergic reaction such as sneezing, severe dizziness or trouble breathing.
