What are the side effects of ciclopirox?

When using ciclopirox to treat a fungal infection, side effects may include burning, itching or redness of the skin or scalp. These side effects are usually mild when they do develop. Tell your doctor if they become severe or persistent. Although serious side effects are rare, they may include blistering, swelling or oozing from the infection site. If one or more serious side effects develop, talk to your doctor right away. If you have an allergic reaction to ciclopirox, stop taking the medication and get medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash; swelling of the face, throat or mouth; trouble breathing or swallowing; or tightness in the chest.
