What should I know before taking Flucytosine?

Follow your doctor’s directions carefully when taking flucytosine. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose. It’s possible that you might feel better before you have taken all your medicine. But you need to take all your medicine for as long as it is prescribed. This drug may cause nausea and vomiting. This can be reduced by taking a few capsules at a time over a 15 minute period. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about:

  • Bone marrow problems
  • Radiation treatments
  • Drugs affecting bone marrow
