Is anidulafungin safe during pregnancy?

Anidulafungin is classified as FDA pregnancy risk Category C which means that studies have been conducted in animals which resulted in harm to the fetus. Scientists gave animals doses that were two to four times higher than the normal human dose. Anidulafungin caused birth defects and was detected in the fetal blood.
