Will Flucytosine interact with other medicines?

Flucytosine (or 5-FC) may interact with other medicines. That’s why your doctor needs to know about any prescription or over-the-counter medicines and supplements you take. It’s been shown that 5-FC works well with drugs for the kidneys. Before taking flucytosine, tell your doctor if you’re taking:

  • Amphotericin B. This antifungal drug may decrease the effects of flucytosine.
  • Cytosine (Cytosar-U). This chemotherapy drug may inactivate flucytosine.
