Does Zofran (ondansetron) interact with other medications or foods?

Zofran (ondansetron) prevents nausea by blocking specific receptors for the brain chemical serotonin and can be dangerous to take with certain other medications, especially if they also affect the brain and nervous system. These include medications for seizures, insomnia, anxiety, depression, migraines, pain, bipolar disorder, and even certain antibiotics prescribed to treat an infection. Make sure your doctor is aware you are taking the following medications before taking Zofran: apomorphine, phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, and tramadol. Zofran (ondansetron) may interact with over-the-counter medications for colds and allergies, pain, anxiety, and insomnia. Talk with your doctor about all medications that you are taking, including dietary supplements, before you take Zofran (ondansetron).
