Who should not take Emend?

If you have liver disease, do not take Emend (aprepitant) without first discussing it with your doctor. Your dosage may need to be adjusted. Adequate studies on pediatric usage have not determined whether Emend is safe for children. Emend only works if you take the medication before experiencing nausea or vomiting. If you are already experiencing these symptoms, do not take Emend. It can interact with many medications, and cause life-threatening complications in some cases. If you take pimozide, you should not take Emend.
