How soon after taking prochlorperazine will my symptoms improve?

If a doctor prescribes prochlorperazine to relieve extreme vomiting and nausea, the medication should improve your symptoms within several hours. Some people may take this medication on a short-term basis (4 weeks or less) to reduce anxiety and agitation. If you are taking prochlorperazine on a regular basis as treatment for schizophrenia, it may take several weeks to help control your symptoms. It will not cure the schizophrenia. Your dosage will most likely start low and increased until it works well for you. Always take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it unless instructed to do so by your doctor.
