What is metoclopramide for treating nausea caused by headaches?

Metoclopramide is often used in conjunction with nonprescription and other prescription medications to treat the nausea associated with some types of headaches. Metoclopramide is not an analgesic; instead, it prevents vomiting. By this action, it prevents ingested pain medications from being eliminated during vomiting. Be aware that possible side effects include impaired motor skills and abnormal contractions of muscles (dystonia).
