What should I know about granisetron before taking it?

Common side effects of granisetron include: heartburn, constipation, weakness, headaches, diarrhea, pain, drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, fever, cough, nervousness, agitation, anxiety, indigestion, abdominal pain, taste changes and vomiting. More serious side effects of granisetron can be fainting, chest pain, irregular or rapid heartbeat, chills, fever or sore throat, unusual muscle movement or blurred vision. Tell your doctor right away if you experience any of these serious side effects. Be especially cautious if you take other medications that increase serotonin levels in the brain, such as antidepressants and migraine drugs. Granisetron can also cause allergic reactions in some people. Call 911 if you experience the symptoms of an allergic reaction, including hives, an itchy rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing and swelling in the mouth, face or throat.
