How does prochlorperazine treat extreme vomiting and nausea?

When a person experiences uncontrolled vomiting and nausea, prochlorperazine may be prescribed to treat the condition. A chemical called dopamine activates the part of the brain that controls vomiting and nausea. Prochlorperazine works by counteracting some of the effects of dopamine and thus controlling the vomiting and nausea.
