Does Emend injection interact with other medicines or foods?

Emend (fosaprepitant) can interact negatively with certain drugs. Of special concern are drugs that change the metabolism of fosaprepitant in your body. Examples include some antifungal medications, antibiotics and anti-seizure drugs, HIV medicines, steroids, antidepressants, certain blood pressure medications and St. John's Wort. Other cancer chemotherapy agents may also interact with Emend. Other medicines may become more or less effective when taken with Emend. These include: anxiety medicines, simvastatin, warfarin, erectile dysfunction medications and hormonal birth control. Some drugs are particularly dangerous to combine with Emend. Before taking Emend, you must talk to your doctor about your use of  pimozide (Orap) to avoid potentially dangerous interactions. Talk to your doctor about these and any other medications or supplements you are using before taking Emend. Dietary restrictions during Emend treatment are not expected, but follow your doctor's recommendations.
