What should I know about Emend Injection before taking it?

Emend for injection (fosaprepitant) can reduce the effectiveness of hormonal birth control (e.g., pills, patch, ring) for as much as 28 days following your last dose, so consider alternative forms of birth control for this time period. Some other drugs are particularly dangerous to combine with Emend. Before taking Emend, talk to your doctor about your use of pimozide (Orap) to avoid potentially dangerous interactions. Doses of Emend may need to be adjusted for people who have liver disease, so check with your doctor.
