Are there any risks with taking Vistaril?

Vistaril, an antihistamine and a sedative, will likely make you drowsy, so it can be dangerous if you drive, operate machinery or need to stay awake and alert. If you drink alcohol, those risks increase. It can also cause an allergic reaction in some people. Vistaril is dangerous for pregnant women, especially in the first trimester. Other possible serious risks include restless muscle movements in the jaw, neck, tongue or eyes; tremors, confusion or seizures. Stop taking Vistaril at once if you experience any of these side effects and call your doctor. Vistaril may also pose risks for the elderly, who may have worse side effects than younger people. It can also cause problems if you have certain medical conditions, so discuss any existing conditions you have with your doctor.
