How do aprepitant capsules interact with other medications or foods?

Aprepitant capsules interact with many medications. Taking Aprepitant with pimozide may cause life-threatening side effects.

Before taking aprepitant capsules, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs: tolbutamide; warfarin or other blood thinner; midazolam; Valium; Xanax; Tranxene; antidepressants such as nefazodone or paroxetine; antibiotics such as clarithromycin or rifampin; antifungals such as itraconazole or ketoconazole; cancer medications such as ifosfamide, vinblastine, or vincristine; HIV drugs such as nelfinavir, lopinavir/ritonavir, or ritonavir; seizure medicines such as carbamazepine or phenytoin; or steroid drugs such as dexamethasone or methylprednisolone.

Aprepitant may also reduce effectiveness of hormonal birth control methods, so you should also use a condom or other barrier contraceptive for a month after you take aprepitant.
