What are the side effects of loperamide?

There are a number of side effects related to the use of loperamide; most are generally mild. Common side effects include: dry mouth, vision changes, dizziness, tiredness, constipation, mild stomach pain, cramps, appetite loss, mild itching and a mild skin rash. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction (i.e. swelling face, tongue, lips or throat) seek immediate medical attention. Serious side effects may occur from taking loperamide. If you have any of the following side effects, immediately contact your doctor: constipation with vomiting and nausea; bloating; stomach pain; fever; sore throat; a severe red, blistering, peeling rash; or worsening diarrhea.
